CONRAD MEIER

*1960, Meilen, Zürich, CH

It’s the same and yet not the same. It repeats itself and yet there is something else.

Swiss artist Conrad Meier depicts seemingly different realities that ultimately turn out to be illusions. The focus of his interest is the design of the surfaces, which are often monochrome and differ formally only in the direction of the paint application. Depending on the incidence of light and reflection, as well as on the viewer’s point of view, Meier creates illusions with one and the same work, inviting us to linger and reflect. Not least thanks to his profound knowledge of materials, he is able to play with our perception in his strictly composed and reduced works.
In 2013 works by Conrad Meier were exhibited for the first time at the Galerie Wenger.
