FRANK BADUR

*1944

My painting begins where the spoken word becomes unsuitable and the written language fragile, to adequately formulate my intuitive perceptions and feelings. This painting is not purpose-bound, it follows neither a fixed plan nor a predetermined goal; it carries its meaning within itself.

The interplay of control and intuition is characteristic of the drawings and paintings of the German artist Frank Badur. Getting involved with his works means to sensitize the own senses for the beauty of simplicity and to recognize the diversity in reduction. In his drawings, for example, he integrates the basic grid of the picture carrier into the composition. The pre-printed small squares interact with the painted forms. Again and again he breaks the clarity and strictness inherent in his paintings by means of deliberately set accents and omissions, blurring the boundaries between the picture and its surroundings.
In 2013, works by Frank Badur were exhibited for the first time at the Galerie Wenger.
