KLAUS STAUDT

*1932

My works are metaphors of light, of space and movement.

German artist Klaus Staudt is one of the most important representatives of constructive-concrete art in Germany. He is regarded as the inventor of free-floating reliefs, which when viewed repeatedly, always convey new impressions. He skillfully experiments with the interplay of light and shadow, of surface and space, of form and color to challenge a differentiated way of perception. The use of Plexiglass proves to be particularly suitable for the realization of his ideas thanks to its clear, transparent texture. Rhythm and structures in the pictorial space defined by Plexiglass are created, for example, with strictly reduced geometric wooden elements painted with white acrylic paint. Precise observation and reflection of what is seen are indispensable for understanding the artistic works.
In 2014 works by Klaus Staudt were exhibited for the first time at Galerie Wenger.
